The band Djam!, a musical encounter between all-round guitarist Joep Pelt and one of the most talented guitarists from Mali, Bounaly Traoré. Bounaly’s roots lie in the town of Niafunké, situated on the Niger, and home town to many famous Malian musicians, like the legendary, late Ali Farka Touré, Samba Touré and Afel Bocoum. The latter two will perform in the Netherlands this year.
The hypnotising desert rock from the two guitarists is completed by drummer Randell Sambo and bass player Kyan Sambo, that lend a modern soul & funk feel to the sound, as well as adding some Caribbean rhythms.
