World: Le Tour de France and the bicycle ‘en chanson’

The Tour de France started in 1903 and was organised by Henri Desgrange, editor of the magazine L’Auto. The idea was conceived by his young employee Georges Lefèvre, who was also the Tour director of the first edition. The Tour has since become the most important, most demanding and most honourable cycling race of the year.
