After she won a talent contest, singer Betty Roche (1918 – 1999) caught the attention of Duke Ellington, in whose orchestra she sang and with whom she recorded her famous version of “Take The A Train”. She also recorded several solo albums for the Bethlehem label, for example.

Marilyn Moore (1931 – 1992) sang in some clubs in Chicago and, for a short period, in the bands of Woody Herman and Charlie Barnet. In 1953, she retreated for a couple of years. In 1957, she made a comeback with the album “Moody”, recorded at the Bethlehem label. Her singing reminds you of Billie Holiday in the 1930s.
