Singer Betty Carter (1929-1998) started her career in the forties and worked with well-known beboppers, hence her nickname “Betty Bebop”. After a period of rest, she returned with success in 1969. Characteristic is her special approach of songs in which she lets her voice sound like a instrument by using scat singing. Recordings from the nineties with among others Freddie Hubbard, Craig Handy and Geri Allen.
