The wayward Prokofiev #94. A docudrama about one of the most prominent and freethinking composers of the 20th century.
Every two weeks an hour long, we look into the life and work of the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, without a doubt one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
In today’s episode: part two about the two sons Sergei left behind after he died, Oleg and Sviatoslav. Both were not involved in music at all during their lives, but of Oleg’s five children, one was: Gabriel Prokofiev. He was born in 1975 and followed in his grandfather’s footsteps, though in his own authentic way. This episode we’ll play some works from after his success during the Proms of 2011.
We will listen to several concertos for rare instruments.
