We return to our own country after the Second World War and pick up where we left off with quartets by Luctor Ponse, Lex van Delden, and Hendrik Andriessen. These three composers shared a preference for classical structures and lyrical expressiveness. Additionally, Andriessen looked further back than the other two, specifically to the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
