Mike del Ferro, who was born in Amsterdam in 1965, is well up in many genres. He visited over a hundred countries and worked together globally with musicians from completely different music cultures. His goal has always been to build bridges between different musical cultures that in principle are not in contact with each other.
From childhood Mike heard music in the house he grew up in, because his father was an opera singer. Since he was nine years old he received classical piano lessons and at the Amsterdam Conservatory he graduated in Jazz. He studied composition and arranging for three years with Bob Brookmeyer in Cologne. He worked together with musicians such as Toots Thielemans, Jack DeJohnette, Randy Brecker, Branford Marsalis, Deborah Brown, Scott Hamilton, Trijntje Oosterhuis and many more. Mike is teacher at the Conservatory of Groningen.
