In this Mariama a new sound from Cape Verde: Tcheka.His cradle stood on the island Santiago and the music of that area can still be heard in his fresh repertoire. His compatriot Lura, a world class star himself, put one of his songs on her CD Di Korpu Ku Alma. Tcheka was awarded with a Cape Verde, Senegalese and French music prize within two years, and no wonder. With his explosive guitar play, remarkable voice and refined compositions he negates many clichés about the music from Cape Verde.
