Tenor saxophone player Johnny Griffin (1928-2008) part 3. In 1957 he was part of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. In 1958 he got to work with piano player Theolonious Monk, the inscrutable ‘high priest of jazz’. Next he formed a sensational tenor tandem with daredevil saxophone player Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis.
