Genius music friends, part XVII. 3 September 2019, 8 p.m.

Haydn and Mozart both love beautiful young diva Nancy Storace. It turns out, she is the daughter of the bassist who gave Mozart his composition lessons. And so his very first symphony came about. We will hear the intimidating andante.

Because of her numerous performances, Nancy Storace’s voice was affected and she was not allowed to sing for five months. Her return to the stage was celebrated with a cantata, needless to say it was a co-production by Salieri and Mozart. Inspired by Nancy’s voice, Haydn composed a beautiful cantata, which is brilliantly performed by Arleen Auger. In turn, Mozart wrote a tailor-made role for Nancy in his opera hit ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’. When Nancy left Vienna, Mozart composed a concert aria for her with a piano solo for himself; a unique piece of work, passionately performed by Joyce DiDonato and pianist Alexandre Tharaud.
