The Concertzender celebrates its fortieth anniversary this year!
Today, you’ll hear the first episode of a special anniversary series. For this occasion, we’ve asked three program makers to collaborate on a two-hour program. Enjoy live music, reflections on the past and future, and above all, plenty of music.
Joining us today are program maker Beatrijs Visser and recording technician Wijnand de Groot, both longtime volunteers. Together with Leo Samama, musicologist and program maker at the Concertzender, they will discuss the musical landscape of the 1980s. Wat prompted the establishment of the Concertzender? And what music was important during that time?

For forty years, Concertzender has been showcasing a wide variety of music. Its program makers, passionate music enthusiasts, have been eager to share their knowledge with listeners throughout all these years. It’s interesting to note that many of them have been involved with Concertzender for a long time. We’ve invited several of them to reminisce about their memories of Concertzender in this series of special anniversary broadcasts.
