Compiled by our Classical Music desk.
Deventer is not only Sweelinck’s birthplace but Reincken – his musical heir- was born there as well. That is why the city held a Reincken Festival dedicated to early baroque for years.
In this programme you will listen to music that could be heard during the edition in 2013. Reincken himself is not on the programme, but there will be various vocal and instrumental music from England, Spain, and Italy. The viola da gamba is the programme’s highlight: in one of the four concertos there even performed a complete gamba quartet.
