Natacha Atlas & the Mazeeka Ensemble performed at the Roots Open Air 2009 at the Oosterpark in Amsterdam on 22 June 2009.
During this festival, Natacha Atlas and the Mazeeka Ensemble perform an acoustic concert of her 8th album, Ana Hina.
Most songs of her performance are sung in Arabic, but in Atlas’ music, the present and the past are brought together in a melting box of Oriental and Western music filled with universal, contemporary emotions. It is a world music concert in all respects. Natacha Atlas has an enchanting voice that she uses for both melancholic songs as well as up-tempo music. In this concert, she sings about pain, sadness, doubt and despair but alternates this with happy dance songs.
