Pianist Sonny Clark ( 1931 – 1963 ) grew up in Pittsburgh
but left for the West Coast when he was in his twenties. There he worked
with a.o. Dexter Gordon. He was soon asked to join several studio sessions in New York and recorded eight albums under his own name for Blue Note, between 1957 and ’59.
