Bach Ad Infinitum

Episode 1382. This week, music for Easter and the Goldberg Variations, with today two different versions of the cantata “Ich lebe, mein Herze, zu deinem Ergötzen” BWV 145, written for Easter Tuesday.

From this cantata, we have no manuscript in Bachs handwriting but the duet, aria and recitatives were clearly written by Bach. After Bach died, his son Carl Philipp Emanuel put the cantata together and published it. We continue with a chorale and a choir, composed by Telemann. Then we’ll listen to the same cantata, but this time we start with a sinfonia composed by Rudolf Lutz.
