Episode 1353. Bach worked at the first version of the St Matthew Passion (German: Matthäus Passion), his most famous composition, in between cantatas BWV 157 (for February 6, 1727) and BWV 193 (for August 25, 1727). We have devoted three episodes to this version, and today is the final part.
