Our new collaboration brings intimate concerts to a wide audience.
World of Jazz, inJazz Radio & New Music NOW join forces for a new and exciting project: Pocket Concerts. This initiative brings short, intimate concerts by Dutch jazz and world musicians to a wide audience by means of audio and video recordings. The recordings take place in the offices of the Concertzender, which house a radio studio with a grand piano.
In 2025, 20 concerts by small, often unexpected ensembles of both emerging and established artists will be recorded. The videos of these concerts will be distributed via various platforms, including YouTube and the sites and apps of the three partners behind the project. The performances will also be broadcast as part of the programme inJazz Radio, which can be heard weekly on the Concertzender and World of Jazz (as well as other distribution channels).
With these compact, high-quality productions, the initiators want to bring music to a wide audience in an accessible and inspiring way. In their own words, “With Pocket Concerts we want to create an intimate atmosphere, as if you are sitting in the front row at a unique performance”.
The first recordings were made on March 17. The guests were:
Suzan Veneman (trumpet, flugelhorn) & Timothy Banchet (piano)
Jasper Somsen (double bass) & Anton Goudsmit (guitar)
These recordings will be distributed soon.
