Govert Jan Bach’s weekday programme about the oeuvre of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Episode 1350. We continue our exploration of the cantatas in chronological order. We’ve now reached the cantatas Bach composed at the beginning of 1727. Today, we leap forward in time to August 1717, with the cantata “Ihr Tore zu Zion” BWV 193 written for the Ratswechsel – a council change in German; their inauguration took place on the Monday after the feast of St. Bartholomew (August 24).
