A program by Micha de Winter, on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

WANDERING AROUND JEWISH MUSIC.
Klezmer, Jewish & Ladino by: Halva |  Orchestre International du Vetex | The Klezmer Conservatory Band.

1– Halva.
Tasteful klezmer music with a subtle twist. Halva is a beautiful name for the internationally occupied instrumental ensemble. You hear the traditional sounds of violins, clarinet, flute and kaval next to accordion, cello and percussion. The Belgian violinist, music ethnologist and composer Nicolaas Cottenie renews klezmer music in a subtle way, with a touch of classical music and jazz. As a result, everything sounds just a little bit different. The album focuses on music from the south-east of Europe: Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania.
CD. Dinner in Sofia – Halva.

2– Orchestre International du Vetex.
It is the cross-border project of Flemish, Walloon and French musicians from the Kortrijk area. In 2004 it was decided to breathe new life into the old brass band and to opt for a more international approach. Not only local melodies but also pieces with an origin in the Balkans, the Caribbean or North Africa could also serve as inspiration. In the summer of 2007 the brass band will participate in the traveling theater festival at various locations. Live, Het Orchestre International Du Vetex is a sensation. Fans of brass music will enjoy this album Flamoek Fantasy.

Klezmer Conservatory Band.
Since 1980, the Klezmer Conservatory Band has been America’s premier Klezmer and Yiddish repertoire ensemble. Through extensive touring, radio and television appearances, and recording, they have spread this exuberant and diverse musical tradition further than ever before. Dance Me to the End of Love takes the band back to the roots of Yiddish music, featuring many rarely heard songs passed on to them by their teachers and friends.
