An hour of Radio Romantica
An hour of the most beautiful songs and ballads from Robert Schumann. They are sung to you by the Canadian baritone Gerald Finley, a regular guest performer in The Netherlands, and of whom we will hear more in the future. He is accompanied by his regular pianist, Julius Drake (from Britain). Together they will give a recital consisting of a great variety of works from Schumann’s oeuvre.
You can listen to Myrthen, op. 25 and the Tragödie, op. 25, but also the famous Die beiden Grenadiere, the clownish war ballade including the French national anthem. Then there are romantic ballads like Abends am Strand, and we close off with the exquisite song cycle of Dichterliebe.
