Pudding & Gisteren

mon 2 sep 2024
Theme: Crosslinks

Mark Ritsema starts his new series Pudding & Gisteren on Wednesday, September 4 at 22:00 CET.

The program, which is broadcast under the banner of Popart, presents prog-rock as a broad, living and, above all, progressive genre with many branches. Early prog was mainly about freedom, but it grew into a genre that is as loved as it is maligned. As the music became more complex and the songs stretched into complete rock symphonies, itwas dismissed by some as pretentious and bombastic and even as boring and fossilised. Every month, Pudding & Gisteren (named after Supersister’s iconic 1972 album) does everything it can to demonstrate the opposite. Compiler and presenter Mark Ritsema shows that prog lives on in contemporary pop, rock and jazz, makes connections with interesting underground bands from the past, and also pays hommage to the prog dinosaurs of yesteryear.

The series is broadcast on the first Wednesday of every month at22:00 CET starting on Wednesday 4 September.
