As always, the programmes features a special guest who talks about her or his musical experiences. This time Michael Baird is our guest.
Michael Baird is not only a drummer, but also an avid collector of authentic African music, especially that from his native Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). Michael’s role model and friend is the late Charles Duvelle, a French photographer, musicologist, pianist and the maker of many field recordings of traditional music. He released his work on his own record label Ocora. Michel has also made many field recordings in Africa. We listen to tracks that he has released on his own label SWP Records. He will transport us into the world of rhythms, Fascinating!
Michael had so much music with him that a second part of this programme will be broadcast on Friday, November 29.
