Maurice Horsthuis (Breda, 28 april 1948).
Maurice Horsthuis strongly supports a more important role for string players in improvised music. In 1991, he founded the Amsterdam Drama an orchestra with a nineteen-member string section. He wanted to perform his theatre music without – as he put it – ‘the hindrance of the words and gestures of actors’. You will hear a selection of the orchestra’s first two CDs.
