Alto saxophonist, singer and entertainer Louis Jordan (1908-1975). During the 40s and 50s he was well known for his band The Tympany Five which made successful records with happy jump music. In 1951 he started a larger orchestra but with fewer hits. Afterwards he returned to the old Tympany Five formula.
